A Frozen Party- Piper's Fourth Birthday!

Piper’s fourth birthday came and went so fast! This was the first year that she had an opinion on the party theme and of COURSE she wanted a Frozen party. At first I wasn’t too excited about it, but as we set everything up it really started to come to life and I ended up loving it! So here are some fun details from her party! And per the usual- the bulk of everything was handmade and inexpensive! I shared a ton of the details at the bottom of this post if you are curious about anything!

My favorite thing was hands down the ice castle! We made it out of a huge box! I just traced out pieces and we cut them out. We painted them and threw some glitter on for added ice sparkle! We assembled it onto her playhouse with lots of duct tape and staples- hahaha! I thought the ice spikes were a fun touch that we just stuck between the planks of our deck.

I also really loved my “wandering oaken’s trading post and favors” sign. I did my best to just copy the font from the real sign with just a sharpie on some old wood we had! I thought switching “sauna” to “favors” was a fun take on the real thing and fit perfectly above the party favors! Those were a fun touch too. I was stumped for a while on what kind of Frozen favor would be good for summertime, and then I realized Ola’f loves summer so I may as well embrace the fact that it’s 100 degrees in California during this party! So sand buckets, chalk and bubbles were perfect! I made the little Olaf tags and it made my summer favors work!

The cake was another favorite- I saw it on Pinterest and then with a couple trial and errors made the “ice candy” by following the directions on this blog. I found the toppers at the Dollar Tree (which is also where I got everything for the party favors and other random things I needed)

For activities I rounded up construction paper and other odds and ends for a build a snowman craft and snowflake making station. Easy and cheap!

We also made pretend snow which was a HIT with the kids! I wish I had gotten a picture of the aftermath of the party, because there was snow EVERYWHERE. Thankfully it cleaned up super easy with our leaf blower and a broom! The recipe is really simple too! All you need is baking soda and conditioner! We used 1- 18oz container of WHITE coconut scented conditioner from the dollar store and mixed it with about 3lbs of baking soda. It’s really cheap at Walmart! Then you just mix it together and you’re done! We made a lot of batches so there was a ton to play with. It even stays cool to the touch and feels like snow! It was all the kids’ favorite thing! It lasts a long time too so you can make small batches and just keep it around for a fun activity for your kids.

I bought a big roll of white paper from Hobby Lobby and we used that to cut out all the icicles that we stapled all around the yard. If you draw out a section you can layer up and cut a lot at a time! AND if you draw your lines at the halfway point of the paper you can get 2 sets at a time on top of how many layers you can cut through. It made that part go a lot faster- and if you can get some grandparents to help it goes even faster ;) I also just bought all the snowflake cutouts online from Party City and they were cheap!

A fun tiny detail a lot of people got a kick out of was the water drink dispensers. I threw a carrot and some rocks in them and BAM- melted snowman water.

All in all the party was a big hit and Piper loved it (and so did I!)

Feel free to ask about anything and I’m happy to help you make your Frozen party a hit too!
